Job Description:

• Manage the department's clinical database and cancer registry services and activities including planning, organizing and directing all data collection, data entry, research and statistical management to identify trends and produce accurate reports to assist physicians, oncology officials and other involved staff with their decision-making.
• Ensure that the everyday activities related to the cancer registry management and research are run smoothly by setting parameters to judge how efficiently and effectively this area is operating. Report progress to immediate superior.
• Plan and coordinate, through subordinate level staff, the department's work plan. Manage and review oncology cases including data verification requirement, data quality classifications and the work of data management. Organize and implement a system to facilitate the extraction of statistical data, productivity and accuracy; maintain the integrity of statistical data and records.
• Organize, design and implement methods and procedures for collecting, interpreting, and classifying patients records including data on cancer registry, utilizing knowledge of data management, guidelines for the approval cancer program, trend recognition, database construction and retrieval processes.
• Manage quality control activities pertaining to all entered cancer cases, and Oncology Data Unit activities. Review the patients' progress including medical status, recurrence, subsequent treatment and survival status. Prepare and generate specific studies, statistical reports and Tumor Registry Annual Report.
• Participate in the development and maintenance of department's quality improvement program, policies and procedures. Recommend and implement changes as appropriate to ensure the integrity of the tumor information registration. Disseminate information and issue guidelines to subordinate level staff to ensure compliance with established policies. Deal with and resolve, when necessary, enquiries and requests.
• Provide professional assistance and advice to Oncology management and other departments in relation to cancer registry and other tumor information registration. Participate in various committees and task force projects, as required.
• Manage the activities and performance of subordinate level staff. Monitor workload, administrative and support systems, and internal reporting relationships; identify opportunities for improvement. Implement productivity standards; resolve operations problems; implement established procedures and ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations; accomplish staff job results by coaching, guiding, and counseling employees; plan, monitor, and appraise job results; facilitate training.
• Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with the organization and department's standards and policies and procedures.
• Prepare and present all type of reports and correspondences, as required.
• Perform other job related duties.

Education:

Bachelor Degree in Health Information Management, Health Information Technology or related discipline from an accredited institution – Essential

Experience:

Minimum of 8 (eight) years’ position-related practical experience, 3 (three) years of which in supervisory role – Essential

Certifications & Other Requirements:

- Certification in Tumor Registry (CTR) or Health Information (RHIA/RHIT/CHIM) from NCRA, AHIMA or CHIMA - Preferred

- Registration with Saudi Commission for Health Specialties - Essential
