King Fahad Military Medical Complex (KFMMC) is a 350-bed tertiary government hospital under the Ministry of Defense Health Services in Dhahran, Eastern Province, KSA. Job Description:
1. Administering intravenous (IV) medications, fluids, and blood products as prescribed by physicians to ensure appropriate therapy delivery.
2. Conducting thorough patient assessments prior to initiating IV therapy to develop tailored care plans that consider individual patient needs.
3. Inserting and maintaining various types of IV access devices, including peripheral, central lines, and PICC lines, ensuring proper technique and adherence to infection control protocols.
4. Monitoring patients during IV therapy sessions to identify and respond to any adverse reactions or complications, adjusting infusion rates as necessary.
5. Collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care, integrating feedback from physicians, pharmacists, and other nurses.
6. Documenting all aspects of patient care related to IV therapy, including medication administration, patient responses, and any complications in electronic health records (EHR).
7. Educating patients and their families about the IV therapy process, potential side effects, and self-care strategies post-treatment.
8. Providing emotional support to patients undergoing stressful treatments, ensuring they feel comfortable and informed throughout the IV therapy process.
9. Staying updated on best practices, advancements in infusion therapy technology, and guidelines for safe medication administration to enhance patient outcomes.
10. Mentoring and training new nursing staff in IV therapy procedures and protocols to ensure high standards of patient care and safety.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Valid registration/ license as a Nurse
Must have Nursing Specialist registration in the Saudi Council
Experience:
At least TWO (2) years’ experience in a Critical care/ or Pediatric setting.
Certifications & Other Requirements:
Acts as a resource Nursing staff in the administration of blood/ blood products, preparation and safe administration of immunoglobin such as factor VIII, blood exchange procedures as well as blood draws for cultures.
